Organic food is no healthier, study finds

LONDON (Reuters) - Organic food has no nutritional or health benefits over ordinary food, according to a major study published Wednesday.

Researchers from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine said consumers were paying higher prices for organic food because of its perceived health benefits, creating a global organic market worth an estimated $48 billion in 2007.

A systematic review of 162 scientific papers published in the scientific literature over the last 50 years, however, found there was no significant difference.

"A small number of differences in nutrient content were found to exist between organically and conventionally produced foodstuffs, but these are unlikely to be of any public health relevance," said Alan Dangour, one of the report's authors.

"Our review indicates that there is currently no evidence to support the selection of organically over conventionally produced foods on the basis of nutritional superiority."

The results of research, which was commissioned by the British government's Food Standards Agency, were published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

Sales of organic food have fallen in some markets, including Britain, as recession has led consumers to cut back on purchases.

The Soil Association said in April that growth in sales of organic products in Britain slowed to just 1.7 percent in 2008, well below the average annual growth rate of 26 percent over the last decade, following a plunge in demand at the end of the year.

“Any release of information relevant to their involvement and/or the information they have provided has the potential to have a substantial adverse effect on management or assessment by Council or the conduct of its industrial relations.

This smells of interference from the Queensland Socialist Labor government in Brisbane to hush up there obvious involvement in the cover-up!

WWF is an Organisation of idiots and a pack of morons?

The morons from the WWF are so paranoid about the true science of climate change and the global warming myth might get out. The WWF's are very concerned that there free ride might end if the truth ever got out about the Global Warming Myth.

The WWF's local idiot Nick Heath who interrupted a meeting of concerned citizens to call Prof. Plimer a "Maverick", what does that actually mean anyway? Heath has to impose himself at a meeting where the truth is being discussed by individuals who are concerned with the science or lack of science his kind are propagating as truth to the Australian masses.

I suggest Mr. Heath go back and climb under his rock. It's his ilk which prevents the Plimer's scientific message from getting out to the public. The intimidation from the WWF and Heath just shows how worried they are that the truth of the Climate Change and Global Warming Myth might get out.

Mr. Heath pull your head in until your ready to openly debate the science instead of bullying the community with your nonsense and ignorance!

My talk with Prof. Ian Plimer Cairns Hotel 23-7-09

Yesterday afternoon I had the pleasure to interview one of the few people qualified to ditch the climate change (CC) and global warming myths (GWM).

Q: LTR - Why is there no debate in the Australian community re: climate change and global warming?

A: IP - Lance, they believe that there is no need for a debate of any kind. They believe there is no need for any consultation with the community and they have decided that the community doesn't want a debate.


Q: LTR - Has Penny Wong or Kevin Rudd spoken with you to ascertain a different perspective re: the CC or GWM?

A; IP: - No


Q: LTR - Why not?

A: IP: - I assume they don't feel they require a another perspective.


Q: LTR - Why is it so difficult to get your point of view out into the Australian community?

A: IP: - The media and publishers are really not interested in my point of view or anyone that dissents against the commonly accepted view of CC and the GWM. The Greens and Labor seems to have a great deal of influence over the media in Australia, as they are very sympathetic to the views of the Left and just prefer to ignore the science and dissent.


Q: LTR - Why hasn't the opposition other than Sen. Fielding asked the hard questions of the government on the emission trading scheme (ETS)?

A: IP - Turnbull won't ask the hard questions or act against the ETS. because his electorate has a high proportion of Greens and he most likely would lose his Seat if he opposed the ETS. I have spoken to over 80 federal politicians (Labor, Nationals, Liberals) about my point of view. So the politicians are listening, whether they act or not and consider the science that is the important question.


Q: LTR - It sounds to me like we have a reverse McCarthyism here in Australia? A witch hunt on anyone who disagrees with the CC or the GWM dogma spread by the Left?

A: IP - Unfortunately that is what's happening and it's a very worrying trend. Whenever a debate or discussion of science is silenced.

I see from Jim Campbell writing for The Chronicle on 21 July, that the biggest loser (Larry Springborg) was awarded a honorary lifetime membership in the LNP for 20 years of outstanding service to a one year old political party? Doesn't make sense to me either.

This guy was and is a total waste of political space. And any party that can bestow a lifetime membership to Santo Santoro, shows me the real value of such an award!

In today's Cairns Post in the "Today's Global Gossip" section on page 27, they say, "that Michael Jackson had a string of gay lovers. That virtually everybody in the Jackson's inner circle knew he was gay." Of course they all knew he was gay and so did the whole world know!

Jackson Biographer Ian Halperin said, "two of Jackson's alleged male lovers with one claiming the pop star would sneak out of his home dressed as a women for a late night rendezvous."

Why is this a revelation, I think most everyone had a feeling Jackson was gay, what's the mystery? The voice the mannerism's and his rather bizarre behaviour with children and monkey's! His plastic surgery mania and turning from a black person to a white one. This guy was a very complex individual at the least and one hell of a talent!

Dictator creates cheapest mobile for Venezuela, is Krudd next?

The fascinating and colourful dictator of Venezuela Hugo Chavez (according to July 2009 edition of APC Australian Personal Computer magazine), annoyed with Venezuela's dependence on "Nokia and other foreign (mobile phone) handset makers that he ordered a state-owned company to produce a local, cheap mobile phone using Chinese-made parts. The end result is a US $13.95 mobile with an MP3 player, WAP Internet access, FM radio and a camera." They have sold out on the first 5,000 and more are on the way.

"Chavez also showed his disdain for slick Western product branding, choosing the name "Vergatario" for his mobile, which is Venezuelan for "Big Penis".

I have heard from a reliable inside source that this Australian Socialist Labor Government led by Krudd is planning the same type of mobile phone as the Venezuelans to be called (funny enough) "The Big Penis" which as you know is Australian for Kevin Rudd."
