Sue and I are off Saturday for a richly deserved vacation to Tasmania. I don't plan on posting until I get back in early May, but I will have loads to report on when I return.

Will be flying into Hobart then off to the Huon Valley, Strahan, Cradle Mtn. and back to Hobart! So if you have friends or relatives in Tasmania please warn them that I'm coming and all subjects and events are open topics for me to write and comment about!

Council Pays for Mayor to Speak on Local Radio Show?

In this morning Cairns Post, "Cash for Comment" in extra large bold print on the front page. Apparently the Cairns Regional Council (CRC) is paying for the Mayor to appear on 4CA 846AM every Friday morning. But, what's truly interesting is the CEO, Mayor, Council and everyone else at City Hall had no idea? The manager at 4CA Steve Hirst said, "I was contacted by Council to arrange to get Val on the radio. There is nothing that the council didn't know about it."

I reckon there is more to this story than it appears on the surface and the true facts should flush out soon. But if these allegations are true, this could be political poison to the Mayor and who do you think will benefit (politically) the most by it?

What is truly bizarre about this whole matter is the former mayor Kevin (KB) Byrnes (Pictured) sticks his two cents into this matter and to my surprise (Not), he says, "We never paid, I never did and I did it for 10 years." Well Kev you might have gone on to explain why and your exact special relationship to the shows host?

Bryan Law not Exactly My Hero! But a Hero of Conscience None the Less!

Back on 16 April I wrote for me a very unusual endorsement of Cr. Di Forysth and just a week from the day of that endorsement I'm about to endorse another person who I have even less in common with Bryan Law.

During the election last month I wrote an article "Voters Haven't Forgot Desley!" endorsing the individual or people responsible for the stencilling of "Yacht Club" on a good many of Desley Boyle's coreflutes.

Well apparently yesterday Mr. Law was presented with a summons to court on a wilful damage charge regarding the Boyle coreflutes. When Ms. Boyle was asked for a comment, she said "It was a matter for the Australian Labor Party." What a cop out, I'm sure it was at the insistence of Ms. Boyle's or her staff that the police and the courts system jumped on Mr. Law.

What Mr Law did was a very important community service, it was a daily visual reminder to the literate voters of the arrogance and indifference of Ms. Boyle and the Labor Party in respect to the Yacht Club and blatantly ignoring the will of the people of Cairns. This legal action by Ms. Boyle and the ALP is manifestly pure vengeance and these charges should be dismissed at once!

The 41 Yr old Mayor of SF to Run for Governor of California, others Candidates over 70 Yrs. of Age!

SF Mayor Gavin Newsom has made it official and thrown his hat into the ring to run for the Democratic Party nomination for Governor of California. While this act by itself is no big deal, but what is truly interesting are the ages of the other Democratic hopefuls:

1. State Attorney General and former Governor of Calif. - Jerry Brown Age 71

2. State Lt. Governor John Garamendi - Age 64

3. Sen. Diane Feinstein - Age 75

4. LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa - Age 56

I could never imagine a political party in Australia nominating a candidate over the age of 60. It just goes to show what an ageist society Australia is compared to the USA! If your over 45 yrs. of age in Australia most businesses here reckon you should be retired and you have two chances for a job, slim and none! We could learn a lesson here from the US regarding are treatment of older Australian in regards to jobs and politics! Because you are a certain age doesn't mean you can't work any longer or contribute to society in a meaningful way.

Former Kuwaiti National, Now an Australian, Lands Two Years in Kuwati Jail?

After living in Saudi Arabia, one thing an ex-pat learns is not to insult the ruler or leader of an Arab country in private or in public. This lady Nasrah Al Shamery a former Kuwaiti citizen apparently lost her temper at the Kuwait airport and in front of airport staff insulted the Emir of Kuwait. As a former Kuwati National she really should have known better. This is not a good idea at any time. And now Mrs. Al Shamery his pleading to the media that she is being railroaded and treated badly and accepts no personal responsibility for her own actions in this matter.

The ABC Online today reported that she has been jailed for two years. Apparently her two sons are just as ignorant and both are awaiting trial while still incarcerated in Kuwait.

I have no sympathy for these so called Australians, being stupid is no defence especially in Kuwait! I wonder how much of Australian taxpayer money is being wasted on assisting these pathetic people?

Climate Change Caused Antarctic Ice Wedge? Well No says the Scientist!

The cream of the Labor Ministers Peter Garrett has again spoken as an authority on Climate Change to Greg Roberts at News.com.au. And like the other hopeless Labor ministers doesn't have a clue about what he is saying.

"Last week, federal Environment Minister Peter Garrett said experts predicted sea level rises of up to 6m from Antarctic melting by 2100, but the worst case scenario foreshadowed by the SCAR report was a 1.25m rise."

"Mr Garrett insisted global warming was causing ice losses throughout Antarctica. "I don't think there's any doubt it is contributing to what we've seen both on the Wilkins shelf and more generally in Antarctica," he said.

Dr. Ian Allison, program head of the Australian Antarctic Division glaciology program dismissed Minister Garrett assertions with funny enough scientific facts as follows:

"Dr Allison said there was not any evidence of significant change in the mass of ice shelves in east Antarctica nor any indication that its ice cap was melting. "The only significant calvings in Antarctica have been in the west," he said. And he cautioned that calvings of the magnitude seen recently in west Antarctica might not be unusual."

"Ice shelves in general have episodic carvings and there can be large icebergs breaking off - I'm talking 100km or 200km long - every 10 or 20 or 50 years."

"Ice core drilling in the fast ice off Australia's Davis Station in East Antarctica by the Antarctic Climate and Ecosystems Co-Operative Research Centre shows that last year, the ice had a maximum thickness of 1.89m, its densest in 10 years. The average thickness of the ice at Davis since the 1950s is 1.67m."

Well again a Krudd minister has gotten it wrong and instead of seeking the truth is wilfully distorting it to the Australian people! Shame on you Peter Garrett for being a very lazy minister, Pete try and earn your pay with a little integrity and a dash of honesty!

What a funny man Debus is, mate your in a political position and a Minster in the Krudd Govt. and you don't wan to "politicise the issue?" Mate that ship has already sailed!

This is the third Labor minister that I felt obligated to write a post on. The Troika was, Joel Fitzgibbins, Jenny Macklin and now Bob Debus. All of these incompetent ministers brought to you by the poster boy of incompetency Krudd. Are these ministers chosen because there isn't anyone else in Govt. that can do the job? Because my schnauzer could do a better job as a government minister to this pathetic lot and he has a higher IQ! It's all to tough because you lot don't have a clue, you all wait for your masters voice and when bad news happens he disappears.

Listen very carefully morons, that when you put out the welcome mat and tell the international press we are open for illegal immigrants at any time with a new immigration policy, what do you expect?

Anger Seething in USA and Texas To Secede from the Union?

The Governor of Texas Rick Perry, waving a US flag and leading the rally with the chant......Secede!

Americans up in arms against the US Federal Government's spending spree and fearful of the economic consequences of the US Government's amassing such a huge debt to all taxpayers!

Wednesday in the USA was "tax day tea party", rallies in major US cities protesting like the Boston Tea Party against taxation without representation. This was a non-partisan gathering and blame was heaped on both Bush and Obama over the excessive spending and the financial bail out of private company's!

I'm waiting for the same kind of anger to finally hit home here in Australia, where Krudd and Co. have gone on an unconscionable spending spree of epic proportions driving Australians into long term smothering debt.

Allot has been written in Australia by the conservative bloggers and columnist, but the Left wing union press has ignored the potential economic consequences to the average Australian. Most Australians know better and I guess are just afraid to stand-up and say ENOUGH!

Labor Insanity is beyond belief! No More Work for the Dole for Yarrabah?

Federal Indigenous Minster Jenny Macklin has finally shown her real disdain for the Howard Government's Work for the Dole program. Announcing yesterday the local aboriginal community Yarrabah would be the first in axing the program. Could this be foretelling the complete closure of the Work for the Dole program nation wide? The same program that Labor fought against, then adopted when it was proven to work effectively?

The Yarrabah Mayor Percy Neal, said to the Post, "Criticised the move saying it would create major social problems in the community." How you ask? The residents of Yarrabah on the dole, get up every morning and actually work to improve the community and have a feeling of pride and accomplishment. Labor wants them back on the dole and again dependent on Labor. In other words you won't have to work for the dole, just take the money and vote Labor.

The minister's moronic idea is to get all the Yarrabah dole recipients jobs in the Cairns community. One problem is that during the boom these individuals couldn't get jobs. Why in the world would there be jobs for these people now, we are in a recession and people with real employments skills are being laid off? What planet is Minster Macklin living in? I would say Pluto!

Again we have Labor telling and not listening, this policy is endemic through out local, state and federal Labor. This is truly another idiotic policy from Labor and why should we be surprised? The Socialist with moronic policy is running this country into the ground and could care less about the end result to the community!

"Live Free or Die" Cr. Di Forsyth is My Hero!

Politically and ideologically Cr. Di Forsyth and I don't see eye to eye on most issues, but when Di stood on the roof of the old Yacht Club that all changed.

It took a great deal of courage first of all just to get on the roof of the club and second to stand up for the rights of the people at your own political peril. She showed us all that you must stand up for what is right and damn the consequences.

Apparently the courts pretty much obsolved Di in the legal matter, but the Council investigation into the possible breach of the code of conduct was a total of 31 pages and cost the ratepayers $3548. I reckon the Council investigation in the matter was a little over zealous! But, 31 pages? How could you write 31 pages on such minor nonsense? And the question should be why do Council bureaucrats have so much time to spend on trivial crap?

The real motivation for this investigation and influence has come from the Labor State Government. People like Desley Boyle and Steve Wettenhall I'm sure set the dogs loose to attack Di's stand when they did nothing to save the Yacht Club. State Labor now have legislated themselves over the past years into a position of complete control of all the Shires in Queensland. So in reality all shires have to report to and take orders from Brisbane on all Council issues. In other words the Shires have all been castrated and the shadow of Brisbane is cast over all Shire decisions good and bad!

Di, congratulations for having backbone and resolve. The community could use more Di Forsyth's and this world is better place with your forthright stand against oppression!

My favourite LNP couple the Caltabiano's has urged the LNP to file a legal action to force a new election for the seat of Chatsworth. I would have never guessed they would be up to such mischief? They are filing the action because of what they say is "alleged vote fraud." Also, voters voting more than once and dead people voting! I thought all the dead people voted for the Catabaino's and the LNP?

They will get this seat in anyway possible even if you don't have enough votes to win and this nonsense will go on and on! I wish my favourite LNP couple all the best in there current quest to win Chatsworth!

Nazi War Criminal Wins Stay of Deportation! This Scum should be strung up, not deported!

John Demjanjuk AKA "Ivan the Terrible" the Ukrainian born scum who was responsible for the death of over "29,000 Jews at the Sobibor and Majdanek concentration camps in Poland in 1943." Has been granted a stay of deportation by the US Federal Court of appeals according to The Australian.

This 89 year old scum instead of being deported to Germany, should instead be strung up and hung. He is a despicable person with no redeeming value as human being and deserves a speedy execution and his memory wiped off the planet.

Fiji Government Shuts Down ABC Radio Stations! I wish we could shut down the ABC in Australia as well!

The Fiji Government has shut down the ABC radio stations to "Limit negative reports." The Australian reports today that "Radio Australia is off the air in both locations."

Now if the Australian Government would do the same and permanently turn off the ABC and there bias news reporting, we could like Fiji not have to hear the Left Wing crap spewed over our airwaves everyday!

I Guess Noel Briggs CRC CEO is Now Running the Council?

Shock of all shocks, Cairns Regional Council (CRC) CEO Noel Briggs an unelected Bureaucrat (Pictured Left) has now taken control of the CRC. Strange I was under the impression that the CEO took guidance from the Mayor and the Council? But apparently now the CEO feels there is a void in the chain of command and he must assert that control to fill the void for some reason?

I think his action is very heavy handed over the Cr. Di Forsyth trespassing matter and also his handling and denial of my request for access like other media organisations to be able to report CRC news in a timely matter by being given access to the News Call List. Also, my mate and fellow blogger Mike Moore at CairnsBlog has also written a piece after his request for being put on the News Call List was rejected as well:

I'm a bit miffed that a public taxpayer funded governmental entity has denied me the right to council information for such a lame reason as me not being a member of a "recognised news media agencies and journalists registered with the peak professional body – those recognised to operate within the professional code of ethics." This is pure nonsense, my writing a blog that is not only read here in the far north, but all over the world is in my opinion enough of a credential to qualify me to write about the Cairns Regional Council and me being sent immediate updates from the Council like every other news organisation. Back from our Easter hiatus and glad to be back home to attend to Northern Truth business!

We had a great four days at the Chillagoe Observatory and Eco Lodge where we set-up our HQ. Our fantastic hosts Paul and Sue rolled out the red carpet as they do for all guests at the lodge. The meals and and lodging were fantastic and Paul was kind enough to take us on a special tour of the marble quarries (see my pictures)! We highly recommend that you visit this wonderful local destination just a 2 1/2 drive west of Cairns! And don't forget the great caves in the local area to explore and the old smelter!

Transport Minister Makes Empty Transit Promise to FNQ?

The new Labor Transport Minister Rachel Nolan making her first and last visit to Cairns yesterday to discuss a railed tram system to run from Palm Cove to Gordonvale. But the caveat was and here it is that "Initially it will be rolled out as a bus network." "The buses would be used at first, in the long term it would be more about trams." Is it a bus system or a tram system, this double talk for your getting a bus lane and someday maybe if your lucky and good little voters a tram?

My advice to citizens of Palm Cove to Gordonvale is not to hold there collective breaths. This Labor government represented here by the Member for Barron River Steve "Wet No Ball" Wettenhall has a very short memory for core and non-core promises or just plan not being able to keep a promise.

And I reckon that man will walk on Mars and pigs will fly before Labor commits and builds an expensive tram system in the North!

Helen "Lurch" Clark Appointed to Head UNDP?

Blow me down the failed former PM of New Zealand Helen "Lurch" Clark has been appointed to the Administrator of the UN Development Programme. I guess Krudd and his East Timor mate Jose Ramos Horta who both have set their sites on the UN's Secty. Generals position now believe any things possible if "Lurch" got the UNDP job.

This is the same Helen Clark that ran New Zealand into recession before the rest of the world with her inept financial management of the New Zealand economy. She a perfect fit for the UNDP position? I think not, but the UN is a big international country club that has been a failure since its inception and continued to amaze at its irrelevance to the world and its ability to waste massive amounts of money!

Labor MP Craig Thompson Used & Abused Union Credit Card, I'm Not Surprised are you?

The SMH and the ABC News reports that Federal Labor MP Mr. Thompson has been accused of using his Health Services Union credit card for escort services and more than" $100, 000 in cash advances which was also used to fund his 2007 Federal election!"

"Mr. Thompson claims the allegations are the result of factional feuding in the union." Sounds like the Queensland Liberal Party when I was on the State Board, I always had to deal with the numerous feuding factions! So he might be right, but then again he might be wrong?

Now Mr. Thompson has Krudd as an example of arrogance and abuse of power, so why would he think he's done anything wrong. I expect the Krudd government will sweep this allegation under the carpet and make it all go away!

Cairns Regional Council Backing the Piepans and Risking Ratepayers Money, a Bad Idea?

We are in financial hard times and raising unemployment rates here in Cairns, but do we have enough money to back the financially unfit Piepans basketball club to the tune of $1 Million guarantee? This is the same club less the CEO Denis Keeffe and the owner John O'Brien who is now bankrupt,. Together they had managed to run up debts that exceeded more than $6 Million. And has paid none of the local businesses that had extended credit to the old Piepans.

What guarantees do we the ratepayer have that this new ownership group will not run up uncontrollable debts in the future? None, yes the Cairns Regional Council (CRC) will have two councillors on the board of the new Piepans to check expenses. But will the CRC councillors have the time and wherewith all to check the groups expenditures? My guess is that this a foolish investment nee guarantee that we the ratepayers cannot afford. The team itself has only $500,000 of operating capital if all the pledges pay up. If we the ratepayers have a 2/3 financial interest in the Piepans, then should we not have 2/3 of the board seats rather than just two? And apparently the new salary cap for the NBL is $1.2 Million, inclusive of cars and super.

I support the financially responsible stand that Crs. Rob Pyne and Julia Leu took in opposition to the guarantee. They at least had respect for ratepayers money as the others took the popular position with no concern for the finances! This is a very high risk investment and will be heading for a similar end like the old Piepans.

North Queensland Party (NQP) to Meet at Cairns RSL 13 May! Is It Time?

The talk of a new North QLD political party has gained momentum and they have called for a meeting on 13 May at the Cairns RSL to test public support for a new party according to Mike Moore at Cairnsblog.net!

The people listed as forming the group include the MP for Kennedy Bob Katter, Cr. Rob Pyne, Printer Darren Howie and Damien Byrnes. It will be very interesting to see if these very politically diverse individuals can put aside there ideologies and form a new political party in a bloodless and peaceful manner.

Mr. Howie said, "We are neither left nor right, we are trying to be inclusive and appeal to everyone." He also went onto say, "He had moved to set up the party because there was a feeling both major parties were ignoring the region. Further he said, "The NQP was aimed to sit between Labor and the conservatives at state and federal levels."

I think in general this is a good idea, but in principle I don't think a political party can "appeal to everyone." I guess you can try but it's a hard ask! As for "both major parties ignoring the region" that is very true, but a new third Party in the North will not end the Southeast from ignoring the North!

The better idea is to focus one's energy to form a new state called North Queensland. That will assure North Qld representation at all times and never having to deal with Southeast Qld again.

Viking Boy as LNP Deputy Opposition Leader? Prescription for Disaster?

My post yesterday endorsed the selection by the LNP of John Paul Langbroek (JPL) as leader, which I feel was a sign of pragmatism and maturity by the Party. When I wrote the post yesterday I was not yet aware that Viking Boy was elected as the deputy leader. This is the wrong move and the wrong message by the Nationals showing that they do not trust the Liberals, so I guess they figured they will stick Viking Boy in there to keep an eye on JPL. This attitude is sewing the seeds for future unrest within the party and JPL should have stepped in and blocked this move. Of course JPL in order to win the vote as leader might have had to accept Viking Boy in exchange for the leadership mantle. I will try and find out form my inside sources within the LNP the Northern Truth.

Krudd Caught Bullying 23 Yr Old Flight Attendant on PM's Plane?

The Currier Mail this morning reports that the PM Kevin "Krudd" Rudd was caught bullying a young flight attendant on a January flight between Port Moresby to Canberra.

The Mail goes on to describe the incident:

"The incident occurred after Mr Rudd, Treasurer Wayne Swan and other senior officials boarded the VIP jet in the PNG capital. Mr Rudd, who had attended the Pacific Islands Forum, was informed by the young woman that his request for a "special" meal could not be met. According to the report, cabin crew were not even aware of the meal request.

Well-placed sources said Mr Rudd reacted "strongly" and a heated exchange followed.

"The crew were distressed but later in flight apologies were made by all," the report says.

The woman, who is understood to be 23, burst into tears and reported the matter to the senior cabin attendant. She later composed herself and continued with the in-flight service.

"Remedial action was taken to the satisfaction of cabin attendant 1," a government source said. It is understood that included a personal apology from Mr Rudd.

This is not the first unsavoury incident involving Mr Rudd and RAAF cabin crew.

During a 25-minute flight between Sydney and Canberra last June, a well-placed source said the Prime Minister became "extremely irritated" when sandwiches were offered rather than a hot meal.

In answer to written questions, Defence said: "It is not appropriate for Defence to comment on the service provided by No. 34 Squadron on its aircraft."

This nasty arrogant behaviour is not surprising to me. We have voted in a Dictator as PM and this is only the beginning of such nonsense from Krudd! Just the most appalling disgusting behaviour for an Australian PM!

Krudd's Immigration Policy a Complete Shambles! Illegals Streaming into Oz Unfettered!

In the Cairns Post this morning, a very disturbing headline "Caught At The Border", 50 boat people detained after crossing the border in the Torres Straits.

This new kinder gentler Krudd government policy has surely opened the floodgates of illegal immigrants to Australia. By announcing there new policy all the economic immigrants from all over Asia and the Middle East are queuing in Indonesian ports waiting to join charter boats for illegal entry into Australia.

Since the Krudd governments welcome notice appeared in newspapers all over the world. Immigrants now know that they will only be detained for a short period of time and then allowed to enter the Australian community until deposition of their residency claim is made. Now this process could take months or most likely years and the immigrants who have lied and know they will never be allowed to remain here. They will just disappear into the ether never to be found again!

Some quotes from the Cairns Post article:

"Warrior Reef crayfisher Frank Kelly, a resident of nearby Yam Island, suspected the detainees were part of a convoy of refugee groups regularly seen moving through Australian waters."

"Mr Kelly said security in the Torres Strait was a shambles with foreign visitors in Papuan
"banana boats" regularly using Warrior Reef for illegal fishing."

"I’ve seen up to 20 boats there for three weeks, many of them filled with women and kids," he said.

"We’ve called fish authorities for weeks and nothing has happened, I want better security in the area."

believes the immigrants caught this week were either Afghan or Sri Lankan and he claimed 50 detainees were being held on Horn Island.

"I went for a bit of a wander around the perimeter but was warned off, however, there were 50 illegal
immigrants in the Horn Island detention centre," he said.

Torres Strait Regional Council Mayor Fred Gela said it highlighted the need for greater security in Australia’s "northern window".

G20 Protests, Now the New Mantra is Anti-Capitalist??

Now the World's Left has moved away from anti-globalisation and climate change to the anti-capitalist mantra! These are the same folks here in the north that have rallied around the anti-fluoride non-sense! If your for the Anti-Capitalist movement, then aren't you a communist? And didn't communism fail in the old Soviet Union in the late 1980's? So the left has embraced socialism or communism, well nothing is new about that! They have know adopted economic doom as our future!

But their economic alternative has been proven to be a failure and more government control of our economy and more involvement in our lives is not the road that I want to go down. This Krudd Labor government is unfortunately taking us down this road. A road no one voted for, but they reckon they can do anything they wish to accomplish the socialist dream in Australia, by bringing us all down on our knees.
