Death to flappy straps
-
I hadn't thought about this in years, but it was forced into
my consciousness recently.
I have a thing about flappy straps on back packs. Those of you who ...

3 Rants:
Dear Lance,
I note you have reproduced a note that is purported to be a transcript of an interview between myself and Alan Jones.
I have been re-sent this by several people.
I note a couple of things about the transcript, which I feel has been reproduced incorrectly, though there is no doubt that it is close to a conversation we have had on several occasions.
1) I don't recall calling Kevin Rudd Chairman Rudd ... it's not my language.
2) And much more important: For whatever reason, the person circulating this email has deliberately or mistakenly left out a vital decimal point. The calculation for annual repayments on a $200 billion loan is $15.4 billion, not $154 billion. Big difference.
3) I have re-done the calculations in the past week, based on the latest forecast of Fed Govt debt by the RBA Governor Glenn Stevens. He says 10% of GDP, which is about $130 billion. Over a 10 year term (the Govt has said seven, but let's make it 10) with a 5.5% 10 yr Govt bond rate, the repayments are $16 billion a year.
So that is the truth of the maths

Lance, after watching Oakshott's performance on ABC Lateline last night, it appears that this guy has his head in the clouds. He is sounding more like a year 9 English teacher, pencil him in as a minister for "Regional Development" in a Gillard minority government. As for Windsor, he is so consumed with contempt for the Nats that he will likely go Labor's way. Katter would have to stay with the coalition, there'd be rioting in the streets of NQ if he went over to Labor. As for that little weasel Adam Bandt, well at least he will stay true to his cause - Labor all the way. Either way an absolute mess! Abbott might be better not "winning", let the independents screw up their situation so that in 3 yrs time they get turfed by the Nats in their seats. # more years of poor government might make people get totally sick of the minor parties. Lastly I would like to say Lance, that whilst I am born and bred on the the southern coast of Australia, deep within me beats the heart of a North Queenslander. Kind Regards, Wade
